Berkeley Video Premiere
On Sunday morning June 22nd, Jan and I will premiere a new video called “Earl and Jan Go to Berkeley” at Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri.
This Joel Triska production chronicles our April 2008 visit to our new home and what will be the site of our university church plant.
The piece sets a new standard in visual economy, coming in at just over two minutes, a length sure to appeal to those with an eroding attention span.
What’s not so obvious is that Joel had only 6 minutes of raw footage to work with (plus a bunch of stills) because I forgot to recharge the video camera batteries before our shoot.
Somehow, he took these fragments and produced another masterpiece. Perhaps genius is only one accident away more often than we know.
We will use the video in churches and other settings where we want to give others some feel for what it’s like on the street in the East Bay. It’s a unique place, and Joel’s video captures that.
It also uses almost every song ever written about California.
Out little movie has been posted on YouTube, but why wait:

In Off-Road Disciplines, Earl Creps reveals that the on-road practices of prayer and Bible reading should be bolstered by the other kinds of encounters with God that occur unexpectedly—complete with the bumps and bruises that happen when you go “off-road.”

Earl and Jan:
Love the video. Looks like the place that you guys belong. Praying for you to get there soon.
Earl and Jan:
Great message @ AG HQ honestly wouldn’t have expected anything less. You are clearly anointed by God. Isn’t it great to know when you are in God’s will!

Earl and Janet,
Great video! Praying for you guys as you head out west. It is worth noting that Alfred Peet (founder of Peet’s Coffee and Tea) was actually a Dutch guy. Needless to say, it isn’t the only export that has made its way from Amsterdam to Berkley. (-: But we pray the next connection between the NL and Berkley will be a mighty of the Holy Spirit among university students!
Wees gezegend! (Be blessed in Dutch)
Hey, Earl. Mr. Yarbrough told me about you and said that you might be a “great match” for me, haha. I have a home church in Vallejo, but I’m going to be attending UC Berkeley this fall. I just graduated from Vacaville Christian High School, and Yarbrough told me to contact you. I was planning on calling you sooner or later, but I figured I might as well comment this now, too. Great stuff. Although I’ll still be serving at my home church in Vallejo, I’m excited to check out the project that you’re setting up in Berkeley. Sounds good. Take care! See you in the fall!
